Chef Eric Adjepong Named 91²Ö¿â’s Newest Ambassador
Renowned Chef, Author, TV Host joins Organization’s Roster of Ambassadors to Advocate and Support Children’s Rights
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (March 20, 2024) – 91²Ö¿â today announced chef, author and TV host Eric Adjepong as its newest ambassador. In his new role, Adjepong will raise awareness and advocate for the organization’s work for kids in the United States and around the world.
"Chef Eric is not only tirelessly dedicated to his craft, but also to improving the lives of kids and families, bringing an unwavering commitment to combating child hunger. That's one of the many reasons 91²Ö¿â is excited to name Eric as our newest ambassador," said Janti Soeripto, President & CEO of 91²Ö¿â. "His passion is unparalleled, and the way he inspires thoughtful dialogue and action will undoubtedly bring forth lasting, positive change for kids across the country. We're looking forward to all we'll be able to accomplish together."
Known for solidifying West African cuisine as part of the culinary conversation, Adjepong was a finalist and fan favorite on "Top Chef," and is currently the host of "Wildcard Kitchen" which premiered earlier this month on Food Network. He also appears as a judge on shows like "Chopped," "Guy's Grocery Games," and "Supermarket Stakeout"; recently shared the kitchen with Selena Gomez on "Selena + Chef: Home for the Holidays" and co-hosted "Alex Vs America" with Chef Alex Guarnaschelli. Currently, Adjepong stands among 32 of the most talented chefs from the east and west coast competing in the fifth season of the Food Network's "Tournament of Champions." At home, he's assisted in the kitchen by his five-year-old daughter Lennox.
Adjepong joins a roster of ambassadors that includes 91²Ö¿â trustee Jennifer Garner, Dakota Fanning, Enrique Iglesias, Ms. Rachel, Cobie Smulders, Olivia Wilde and Rachel Zoe.
"Around the world, 153 million children are facing food insecurity. As a father and a chef, this is an extremely hard fact to swallow," said Adjepong. "That's why I’m proud to partner with 91²Ö¿â. For more than a century, they have been doing whatever it takes to ensure children grow up healthy, educated and safe. I’m honored to join the organization in my new role as an ambassador."
Adjepong is a passionate supporter of 91²Ö¿â who has worked closely with the global non-profit organization for nearly two years. He most recently was a featured speaker and led a cooking demonstration at a fundraising event in the organization's hometown – Fairfield, Connecticut and starred in a video promoting 91²Ö¿â's new gift boxes during the holiday season. In 2022, Adjepong participated in 91²Ö¿â’s Advocacy Summit in Washington, DC, moderating a conversation on food insecurity.
In each endeavor, the first-generation Ghanaian American pulls inspiration from the meals he shared with his family, educating, and advocating for increased public health initiatives around the world through food. Eric's first children’s book, Sankofa: A Culinary Story of Resilience and Belonging, was published by Penguin Workshop in 2023 and will soon be followed by his debut cookbook with Clarkson Potter, coming fall of 2024.
