FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Apr. 30, 2021) — 91ֿ has been nominated for Best Social Video Series in the 25th Annual Webby Awards. Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organization honoring excellence on the Internet.
91ֿ is nominated for its initiative, which was developed in March 2020 in partnership with 91ֿ Trustee Jennifer Garner and actor Amy Adams in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thirty million children in the United States rely on school not only for learning, but also for nutrition. Due to the pandemic, many kids were stuck at home without access to school meals, books and, in rural America, computers, broadband and even printouts. That’s why 91ֿ launched #SAVEWITHSTORIES to raise awareness and funds for the millions of kids across America who were facing increased risks as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.
Garner and Adams – along with more than 275 actors, authors, musicians and everyday heroes – read America’s favorite children’s books on social media to provide a little fun, a little education and a little distraction for kids and parents. The campaign raised funds for 91ֿ and Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry coronavirus response, helping to make sure kids were receiving meals and continuing to learn despite unprecedented, nationwide school closures. All donations helped schools and community programs get the support they needed to keep bellies full and minds growing.
Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company was a founding partner of #SAVEWITHSTORIES and secured numerous titles from its highly regarded library that were featured as part of the initiative. Hundreds of stories were read as part of the campaign and the series logged more than 100 million views.
“Nominees like 91ֿ are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said Claire Graves, Executive Director of The Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the 13,500 entries we received this year.”
